¿Qué es la localización?

When we talk about localization, we are referring to the process of making a product or service more suitable for a particular country, area... It is not only making it understandable for the player, but also as enjoyable as the original version.

¿No son traducción y localización lo mismo?

In order to understand the difference between translation and localization, let's take a look at these examples:

The sentence "One of my favourite writers is Charles Dickens" would be, in Spanish, "Uno de mis escritores favoritos es Charles Dickens".

This makes it perfectly understandable for the player. However, since Charles Dickens is an English writer, some Spanish speakers may not know him, making it harder to understand the context of the sentence.

What can we do to prevent this from happening? We can adapt "Charles Dickens" for "Gabriel García Márquez", a Spanish well-known author.

If Charles Dickens was really important for the plot, we could then add an clarification that would make it easier to understand.

We could then say "One of my favourite writers is Charles Dickens, author of Oliver Twist". All of these options are always informed to the original writer's author (that's you), so you are aware of these changes and the reason why they are implemented.

¿Cuánto cobras?

The price of localization is determined by the number of words that are on the text, taking into account the original one.

Usually, this price goes from 0.08€/word to 0.15€/word. However, since I am specialized in indie teams, mine is 0.06€/word.

Depending on the amount of time you are giving me to work, I will also be charging an extra. This extra money will be discussed between you and me, based on the length, difficulty and time I have.
